I feel the same, sitting high and dry here in North Queensland, Australia, feeling very sad for my home town and its citizens. Viewing the clips and photos on the internet and reading the reports is unreal, and trying to match the CR of my 2005 visit with the flooded streets and buildings is difficult. Very challenging times ahead. My thoughts and prayers go to everyone in Iowa.

I live only a few blocks out of the water's way in Cedar Rapids and I am so grateful to have a dry home and power - even if we do have to give up showers and laundry for a few days, it's nothing compared to what a lot of people have to go through. We thought there was "nothing to do" before - what now? And the library, the thought of losing all those beloved books just brings me to tears.
