In South Africa there is currently a lot of head hunting experienced Delphi people. (Can’t speak for junior positions, but there is also plenty of jobs available but not many seekers.)

It definately feels to me as if it is a lot better than a couple of years ago.

I actually will be converting a VB.net app to Delphi win32 soon.

I think it is up to us senior developers and old time Delphi people to get our companies to keep our companies in the delphi way. Also bring in a Newbie programmer (one with ability but no experience and also no language preference yet. That’s how I started.

I’ve been searching all the major job boards for the SF Bay Area now for over 6 months, sure there are quite a few postings… but if you look closely most are actually for the same job just listed by a different consulting firms. The companies I’ve been able to speak to their Delphi work goes only as far as migrating over to C#. I haven’t came a cross one company in the Bay Area that is planning new development with Delphi, it’s mainly migration and maintenance until migrated.

Dice has a lot of openings, about 68 just for May 24th. Not all of these are ‘pure’ Delphi jobs, some are C#/VB/C++ conversion work, but most are Delphi jobs that involve coding directly in Delphi.

A whole lot better than it was 10, 5, 2 or even 1 year ago. There is a lot of Delphi code out there needing to be maintained, and not a few shops that still preference Delphi.

ermIT doesn’t have every job in the states but it is the site recommend by DavidI.

I’ve found that job sites are a useful barometer of IT trends. Looking at other sites there are a surprising number of jobs looking for Delphi developers to convert products to .NET

Strange thing about PermIT, the counter at the bottom says 166, not very popular is it ;).

Maybe it’s not the best resource.

Just in case some didn’t know, but PermIT does not track all Delphi jobs in the U.S. There are many jobs PermIT does not know about. Some employers go with other head hunters. Some find developers on their own. PermIT is no indicator of the health of Delphi jobs in the U.S. as a whole.

You might also want to call them as the web site might not reflect what is currently available.

From what I can see: in the Netherlands there are more and more requests for Delphi programmers. Delphi is mostly used by small / medium sized companies that usually need a lot of small but custom build applications (research / production etc).

I think that companies are hanging onto their Delphi programmers because good ones are hard to find. I know we are. For the same reason we are not expanding our team, so haven’t had an advert out for anyone for a while now. There are a lot of Delphi applications out there, most will need to be maintained for years. The bad new is that the Delphi application market is NOT GROWING.

As a ten 10 year Delphi veteran, its sad to see this decline, Is it terminal, is this the end for Delphi?
