I just had the exact experience you described with my Vet (X-Vet now). The doctor refused to examine the cat, wouldn't open the carrier, refused to sedate him, and THEN charged me for the office visit! I am so upset!

I have set an appointment with another Vet for tomorrow, and hopefully, the cat will be examined and receive his annual shots.

I know doctors don't want to be attacked, but they do make restraint devices for cats. You'd thik a Vet would be prepared for a variety of temperments.
