The local version will allow up to 5 people to access a shared data file with record-level locking (like Paradox). It has performed very reliably in two different applications with files residing on (Novell) servers with at least 2 simultaneous users and up to 5 simultaneous users. It is MUCH easier than Paradox to set up to share a common table on a network because Advantage does not use file-based locking.

Hi,
I'm writting win Studio 2003, am having problem. Usualy I use the ADO.NET to do my connection i.e with strings, but when I created my DataAdapter and pass my SQL "SELECT", the winapp will throw an exception error saying "System Error", and point to the dataset object. I dont realy Know what the problem is.

The other is that even when I use the Data Wizard to create my DataAdapter and Untyped Dataset the winapp work well on my local Machine but when deployed to another computer even after installing the framework 1.1 ,it generate error and stop.

please advaice me on what to do, what I wanted is to develope a client/server winapps.

thanks for any help

mail:- dell_adv100@hotmail.com

I have been using Advantage for years for the exact same reasons.

Advantage does have OCBC and OLE/DB, both of which I have used.
