Federal Marriage Amendment defeated
The anti-gay amendment was killed in the Senate. Not only did they not get the 2/3 majority it would have taken to pass the amendment in the Senate, they didn’t even have a simple majority supporting the thing!
It’s a major victory, and at the same time, it’s nothing but a holding pattern. Nothing gained. But, at least, nothing lost.

Here’s my concern: how come our congressmen and women have nothing better to do than determine what constitutes a legal marriage. Shouldn’t that be way, way down on the priority list? I mean, wouldn’t it better serve the people (you and me) to have them concentrating on how to keep all of us working, with decent health care, with good public education, somewhat secure from terrorist, just to name a few?
Am I out in left field on this?
